Discussion Training: Deconstructing Anti-Democratic and Anti-Ukrainian Myths | Chemnitz

From August 30 to September 1, 2024, CRISP offers a discussion training to deconstruct anti-democratic and anti-Ukrainian myths. Join us! All costs are covered.
Let’s come together and prepare for complex dialogues of various kinds. We have analyzed anti-Ukrainian narratives in Germany and developed a training program that aims to enable participants to engage in complex conversations about topics related to Ukraine and democracy. After the training, we plan to implement a series of dialogues with the newly trained discussants at everyday locations in Chemnitz and Zwickau and expand the network of discussants in Saxony in the future. The goal: to contribute to strengthening democratic forces in Germany.
Key Information
2.5-day training for future discussants: Friday, August 30, 3:00 PM – Sunday, September 1, 2024, 3:00 PM (Location: to be announced, but in or near Chemnitz)
Costs: The training is free, and thanks to BAMF funding, accommodation, meals, and travel expenses are covered.
What you will learn: Deconstruction and response to anti-Ukrainian myths, conducting topic-related interviews.
We are looking for committed democrats with basic knowledge of nonviolent communication and the willingness to engage in or moderate dialogues with potentially dissenting individuals in everyday locations such as cafés, pubs, community gardens, marketplaces, sports clubs, etc. Fluent German is important as we want to engage in the most intensive exchange possible with local people. For the dialogues, we aim to form tandems consisting of one person who grew up in Ukraine and one person who grew up in Germany (preferably in East Germany).
